We are calling on Bournemouth and Poole councils to give assurances that no social housing tenants will be evicted due to arrears accrued through the Bedroom Tax and will be holding demonstrations outside both town halls prior to full council meetings.More details

Over 100,000 people marched through central London to a rally in Hyde Park in protest against the govt’s savage austerity policies. Photos

Sept 21st – Fair Tax Campaign

July 7th – National Week of Action Against Workfare
A leafletting session took place outside Argos against their use of workfare.
July 11th Leaflets were handed out at Bournemouth Jobcentres giving information and advice to people who are or maybe sent on workfare schemes.
21st Jun 12 – UNISON demo outside Poole Hospital
UNISON delegates from their annual conference being held at the BIC in Bournemouth attended a flash demo outside Poole Hospital in protest against the South West NHS Trust pay cartel

16th May 12 – Tell May Cuts No Way
A small anti cuts protest was held outside the BIC to coincide with the Home Secretary, Teresa May, speaking at the Police Federation Conference. A flyer was also handed out to the delegates. Photos Echo Video
10th May 12 – National Strike Action
Over 400,000 public sector workers in health and education withdrew their labour to challenge the govt’s attack on their pensions. Unions who joined the action included PCS, Unite, RMT, UCU and NIPSA.
9th May 12 – Pre- Strike Solidarity Rally

6th May 12 – May Day Picnic Dorchester
A free event was held by the Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland Trades Council at Borough Gardens, Dorchester. Info
28th April 12 – Workers Memorial Day
Dorset Trade Unionists remember those workers killed, injured or made ill simply by going to work as part of the TUC National Workers Memorial Day. Safe work is a human right that too many are denied already. The cuts and Red Tape agenda will make it worse. Remember 171 workers killed simply doing their job lasts year. Photo

Members of BPACC gathered in Bournemouth Square to say ” not one more cut” on the day of the chancellors budget for the rich.

5th February 12 – Action for the NHS
Members of local groups including BPACC, Bournemouth Uncut, Wessex Solidarity, Occupy Bournemouth and Anonymous worked together in an action for the NHS. The afternoon was spent interacting with the public, sharing information, giving out leaflets and getting template letters to ministers and MPs signed. Over 600 hundred leaflets were distributed and 70 template letters signed.Photos
